ASCENSION DIVINE SERVICE ~ Ascension Day is this Thursday, May 30th. Divine Service is offered at 7 p.m., and a meal will be offered beforehand at 6 p.m. This is one of the chief Festivals of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please come!

SUNDAY NIGHT BOOK CLUB ~ It’s almost time to read and discuss a book together over the summer. This year we’ll be readingLiturgy of the Ordinary by Tish Harrison Warren. There is a sheet on the bulletin board for ordering a book, as well as a slip in your mailbox.

CILCA HOG ROAST ~ Camp CILCA’s annual Hog Roast is being held today. Dinner is served from 11:30-2:30. The Trading Post, beach, and new cabins will be open. A Jazz concert will be held from 1:30-3:00. Information will also be given about the camp’s ongoing capital campaign. Come for the day, or stay the whole weekend for camping, games, and devotions. See you there!

SAVED THROUGH WATER VBS ~Set sail for a fun Vacation Bible School on June 23-27 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

  • Registration is open!All children age 3 through those entering 6thgrade in the fall are encouraged to attend VBS. Please fill out a registration form from the Parish Hall and return it to Betsy, or register online at gsslcms.org/vbs
  • Volunteers are needed! Check out the VBS display in the Parish Hall for more information on how you can help and to fill out a volunteer form. Please turn in volunteer forms by June 1so that we can place our t-shirt order. VBS work nights will be 5/23, 6/6, and 6/20 at 7 p.m.

LWML MISSION PLEDGE WALK ~ Glen & Nancy Holmes will be attending the LWML National Convention in Alabama in June. While there, they will be participating in the Mission Pledge Walk. You can help them support LWML Mission grants by making a donation. This Mite Box money will help fund mission grants in the 2019-2021 biennium. Checks should be written to LWML with Motion written in the memo line. You may give your check to Glen or Nancy, or put in their mailbox.  A couple of the last mission grants included: Nursing Students Serving with Mercy Medical Team, short Term Mission Trips, Laborers of Love, and Prison Ministries.

PREMIER CONFERENCE FOR LUTHERAN LAITY ~ You’re invited to attend the Issues, Etc. “Making the Case” Conference Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8 at Concordia University Chicago. Topics include: Why the Public Square Needs Christianity, Joyfully Lutheran, The Lord’s Supper, The Hippocratic Oath, Progressivism, Planned Parenthood, Liberal vs. Liberal Arts Education and Christian Hope. Speakers include: Matt Harrison, Ross Douthat, Hans Fiene, Matt Walsh, Carol Tobias, Jonathan Fisk, Wesley Smith, Tom Korcok and Will Weedon. Registration is $125 and includes three meals.
