ANNOUNCEMENTS

THE REVELATION TO ST. JOHN BIBLE STUDY ~ Beginning next Sunday, 2/4, Pastor will be leading a study of Revelation in the Adult Scripture Study. Please make plans to come and study the Word! Join us today, 1/28, for a special lesson on the miracles of Creation, taught by Rev. Dr. Joel Heck, Professor of Theology at Concordia University Texas.

FAMILY FEUD ~ On Friday, February 2nd at 6:00 p.m. you are invited to participate in the game of Family Feud.  This event is open to all- if your family is small, feel free to team together with another family! Bring a snack/appetizer or dessert to share; pizza will be provided for dinner. Help is also needed in completing the survey for the game. Get a copy of the survey today after service, fill it out, and give it to Betsy today.

SILENT AUCTION & POTLUCK ~ The annual silent auction and potluck will be held on Sunday, 2/4. The auction will run from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. The potluck will begin at 11:45 a.m. Please bring a dish to share. Donated items may be brought to the Parish Hall beginning today until 2/3. Proceeds will be to Friends in Faith and they will distribute to local charities in December.

PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION ~ Did you know members of Good Shepherd receive priority preschool registration for the 2018-19 school year? If you are interested in enrolling your child in one of our programs, you have until February 20. Please contact Mindy at 496-3149 to receive additional details and paperwork.

LLL ANNUAL MEETING ON TWO KINGDOMS ~ Reverend Gregory Seltz, Executive Director of the Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty, and Congressman John Shimkus will team up to discuss “The Two Kingdoms and the role of a Christian in the Political Process” at the upcoming Lutheran Layman’s League Annual Meeting March 17th, 10:30 a.m. St John’s Lutheran in Champaign will host. Registration fee of $12/ per person should be sent to Bob Kassel, 20 Fairlane Drive, Altamont, IL 62411.

LENTEN MIDWEEK MEALS NEEDED ~ Lent begins on February 14th, Ash Wednesday. Volunteers are needed to provide meals before the midweek services. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex. Would your group provide a meal? Or why not get together with some friends and serve the congregation in this way?

CELEBRATE LIFE DINNER ~ All are welcome to come to this delicious dinner on 2/10 at 6:00 p.m.  The youth will serve salad, mostaccioli, garlic bread, and desserts.  Entertainment includes games, music, and a photo booth. All proceeds will be donated to Lutherans for Life. Please sign up for the dinner by 2/8 so we can know how much food to prepare. Youth: Please sign up to help from 5-8pm.

LOVE BOXES BY FRIENDS IN FAITH ~ Every February Friends in Faith mail love boxes to college students, military and shut ins. We need your help to fill the boxes with packaged food items or monetary donations to help with postage. If you want to help with a monetary donation, please make check to Friends in Faith and submit to the church office by 2/11. Packaged items could include: pop tarts, hot cocoa mix, oatmeal packages, candy or microwave popcorn. Place donated items in the church kitchen with a note “love boxes” by 2/11.
