THIS WEEK AT GOOD SHEPHERD
DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ~ Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night, 3/9, when you go to bed. Showing up for just the end of Divine Service would be a bummer! Especially because…
CONCORDIA CHICAGO KAPELLE ON 3/10 ~ The Kapelle Choir from Concordia University – Chicago will join us next Sunday for Divine Service. They will add some music to our celebration of the First Sunday in Lent.
CUC KAPELLE CONCERT ON 3/9 ~ The Kapelle will also be giving a concert at Springfield Lutheran High School, 3500 W. Washington Street, on Saturday, 3/9, at 7 p.m. They will present their sacred choral program, “Songs and Praises.”
BOY SCOUT FOOD DRIVE ~ The annual Scouting For Food will be held on Saturday, 3/16. The local collection is delivered to us for our food pantry. We will need volunteers to help organize and put the items on the shelves. If interested, please contact Pastor or the church office.
STIER SCHOLARSHIP ~ Applications for the Isaac David Stier Memorial Scholarship are now available from the church office. The scholarship is open to any member of Good Shepherd who will be furthering their education next fall. Deadline for completed applications is 4/15.
MARCH YOUTH EVENTS ~ All Jr. High and High School youth are invited to participate in both events this month. We will meet on 3/16 from 6-8 p.m. for our Saturday Youth Night. Come for dinner, a devotion, and games. Please sign-up for youth night by noon on 3/16. On 3/30 we will go to Edison’s Entertainment in Edwardsville for lunch, laser tag, bowling, and arcade games. Meet at church at 10:30 a.m.; we should return around 5:30 p.m. The cost for the event is $20 and includes lunch and the all-access pass. Families of students and friends are also encouraged to attend. Please sign-up for this event by 3/24.
MARCH SUNDAY SCHOOL OFFERING PROJECT ~ During the month of March, our Sunday School offerings will support Bethesda ministry. Bethesda provides services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Along with our offerings, students and families will also have opportunity to visit the local Bethesda residents on 3/10 from 1-2 p.m. to share a Bible story, songs, and cookies. Please speak with Betsy Lash if you would like to attend for more details on where and when we will meet, and to make sure we have enough cookies for all participants.
FRIDAY NIGHT SHOES ~ The sign-up sheet for the next Friday Night Shoes is now on the bulletin board in the Narthex. We will be going to Mario’s on Veterans’ in Springfield/Chatham on 3/15 at 6 pm.
