LENTEN MIDWEEK SERVICES ~ Each Wednesday in Lent we gather together to devote ourselves to the Word, prayer, and the Sacrament of the Altar. This year we are reading through 1 Peter, one chapter per week. Last Wednesday we read and Pastor preached on 1 Peter 1. This week we will hear 1 Peter 2. Please come! Service is at 7 p.m., with a meal served beforehand at 5:45 p.m.
EASTER FLOWERS ~ Included in the bulletin this morning is a form to order flowers to help decorate the Sanctuary for Easter. We kindly ask to have orders in by 4/3.
HOLY WEEK SERVICES ~ Services will be offered each night during Holy Week, 4/15–4/20. Services are each night at 7 p.m. Plan to come and devote yourself to the Word each night during this week when our Lord was in Jerusalem to die for us. Please put it on your calendars.
STIER SCHOLARSHIP ~ Applications for the Isaac David Stier Memorial Scholarship are now available from the church office. The scholarship is open to any member of Good Shepherd who will be furthering their education next fall. Deadline for completed applications is 4/15.
MARCH YOUTH EVENTS ~ All Jr. High and High School youth are invited to go to Edison’s Entertainment in Edwardsville on 3/30 for lunch, laser tag, bowling, and arcade games. Meet at church at 10:30 a.m.; we should return around 5:30 p.m. The cost for the event is $20 and includes lunch and the all-access pass. Families of students and friends are also encouraged to attend. Please sign-up for this event by 3/24.
BUTTERBRAIDS FUNDRAISER ~ The youth groups are now selling butterbraid pastries, cookie dough, and pizzas to raise money for youth events and the high school summer Higher Things conference. Please see the youth in the narthex if you would like to purchase items. Delivery will be made on 4/11.
GAME NIGHT ~ All are welcome to attend our next game night on 4/5 at 6:00 p.m. Pizza and drinks will be provided; please sign-up and bring a side or dessert to share. Bring your favorite game from home or join with others to play a new game!
PRO-LIFE PRAYER SERVICE ~ Anyone attending the “Pro-Life Rally and Lobby Day” at the state capitol in Springfield on Wednesday, March 20 might be interested in a Prayer Service at Trinity Lutheran, Springfield (220 S. 2nd Street) from 11:30 until noon on that day. CID President Mark Miller will preach. Trinity will be open for prayer before and after the service, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. that day.
