CHURCH POTLUCK NEXT SUNDAY ~ Next Sunday, 1/20, is this month’s Mid-Month Meal. Bring one entrée along with a side or dessert to share and enjoy fellowship with your family in Christ. We’ll feast together in the parish hall directly following Sunday school. Questions? Talk to Katie Schuermann.
PASTOR SCHUERMANN OUT OF TOWN ~ Pastor Schuermann will be at the March for Life in Washington, D.C. from Wednesday, 1/16 through Monday, 1/21. In case of pastoral emergency, please contact Pastor Theilen (217-415-2311), Pastor Bahr (217-883-7137), or Pastor Sam Janssen (217-416-7999). Please pray for all those marching, including congregation members Katie Schuermann, Josephine and Mercy Bahr, and Austin Tuttle. And please pray that we would find repentance, hearts full of mercy, and a love for life throughout our nation.
PEW SISTERS ~ Looking for sisterly fellowship in the church? Then the Pew Sisters book group might be just for you. We meet in peoples’ homes the last Tuesday every month from 7 to 9 pm, and all women are invited to participate. Starting in January, we will be reading and discussing the book He Restores My Soulpublished by Emmanuel Press. Questions? Ask Katie Schuermann at katie@katieschuermann.com.
CHURCH WORK DAY ~ Saturday 1/19 at 8:30 am. Plans are to clean up the basement and then move construction materials from the new wing into the basement for storage.
ICE SKATING EVENT ~ All are welcome to come out to the Nelson Center in Lincoln Park on 2/2 from 5:15-6:15 for an ice skating party. We will have the whole rink to ourselves! A donation of $5 per skater is suggested, and includes skate rental. Sign-up today!
CAMP CILCA JOBS ~ Camp CILCA is looking to hire several part time cooks for the summer program, outdoor education, and weekend retreats. Hours vary depending on the season. Applicants should have or be able to obtain an Illinois Food Manager’s License. Anyone interested in more information can call the camp office at 217-487-7497 or email at camp@cilca.org.
CAMP CILCA ANNUAL BANQUET ~ Will be held on Sunday, 1/27, 5 pm at Our Savior’s. Guest speaker Rev. Jeff Hemmer, author of “Man Up”, speaks on mankind’s connection to God’s creation. Tickets are $40. You may call 217-487-7497 or email camp@cilca.org to get tickets by 1/23.
ADULT INSTRUCTION CLASS ~ A class on the basic teachings of Christianity will be offered. This is a great opportunity for inviting someone curious about the Faith to come, ask questions, and learn. We’ll cover the instruction needed to be a communicant at Good Shepherd’s altar. Current members are encouraged to attend as well. We’ll meet Saturdays, 9-10 a.m., from 2/2 through the end of March. A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board in the narthex. If you’d like Pastor Schuermann to send an invitation to someone, let him know!
JANUARY YOUTH EVENTS ~ Get ready to play dodgeball! All Jr. High and High School youth are invited to play dodgeball and possibly gaga ball on 1/20 from 6-8 p.m. Dinner will be provided. Our regular Saturday Youth Night is on 1/26 from 6-8 p.m. for both Jr. High and High School youth. We’ll get together for dinner, a devotion, and games.
