CHRISTMAS SERVICES ~ The time is at hand for our yearly celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ! Please make plans to keep both Christ and the “Mass” (that is, the Divine Service) in Christmas.
- Christmas Eve Family Service – 12/24 at 6 p.m.
- Christmas Eve Candlelight Divine Service – 12/24 at 8:30 p.m. or 11:00 p.m.
- Christmas Day Festival Divine Service – 12/25 at 10:00 a.m.
Note: there is no Wednesday Divine Service on 12/26
JUNIOR ALTAR GUILD ~ Calling all daughters of the congregation! Advent and Christmas are soon upon us, and there is much decorating to do. The Altar Guild would like to invite you to join them for the following festive activities this winter:
- Saturday, January 6, 11:30 AM – Take down the sanctuary Christmas tree and decorations
Cookies and hot chocolate will be provided. Won’t you please join us?
PEW SISTERS ~ Looking for sisterly fellowship in the church? Then the Pew Sisters book group might be just for you. We meet in peoples’ homes the last Tuesday every month from 7 to 9 pm, and all women are invited to participate. Starting in January, we will be reading and discussing the book He Restores My Soulpublished by Emmanuel Press. Questions? Ask Katie Schuermann at katie@katieschuermann.com.
CAMP CILCA JOBS ~ Camp CILCA is looking to hire several part time cooks for the summer program, outdoor education, and weekend retreats. Hours vary depending on the season. Applicants should have or be able to obtain an Illinois Food Manager’s License. Anyone interested in more information can call the camp office at 217-487-7497 or email at camp@cilca.org.
DECEMBER YOUTH EVENTS ~ See the youth bulletin board for sign-ups for the December events! Events include the annual Christmas Movie Marathon from 2-7 p.m. on 12/30 for JH and HS youth. The HS youth will serve dinner at Contact Ministries on 12/27. Please speak with Betsy if you have any questions.
PROGRESSIVE DINNER ~ All adults are invited to attend our annual progressive dinner on Saturday, January 5th, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. starting with appetizers at Perry & Nadine Kraft’s home (25 Cabin Smoke Trl), followed by dessert and a $15.00 gift exchange in the parish hall at 7 p.m. If you are interested in attending this fun event, please sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex. ADULT INSTRUCTION CLASS ~ A class on the basic teachings of Christianity will be offered. This is a great opportunity for inviting someone curious about the Faith to come, ask questions, and learn. We’ll cover the instruction needed to be a communicant at Good Shepherd’s altar. Current members are encouraged to attend as well! We’ll meet Saturdays, 9-10 a.m., from 1/26 through the end of March.
TALK RADIO FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON ~ Issues, Etc. is a radio talk show and podcast produced by Lutheran Public Radio in Collinsville, IL and hosted by LCMS Pastor Todd Wilken. Topics for the 12 Days of Christmas include: The Christmas Hymn “Silent Night, Holy Night”, The Holy Family, The Church’s Observance of Christmas Day, and the Top Religions Stories of 2018.
