GOOD SHEPHERD BOOK CLUB – MERE CHRISTIANITY ~ The next book we’ll be reading and discussing together is Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. We’ll start meeting to discuss on Sunday, December 10. Lewis lays out a rational case for the Christian faith. The chief benefit of this book is in modeling for us how to begin to think clearly about what we believe and how to defend it. SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR AC/HEATING REPAIR ~ A special offering envelope is on the table in the Narthex. This is to defray the cost of the bathroom and office AC/heating unit that had to be replaced at a cost of $6,845.00. Please prayerfully consider helping with this special need.
ADVENT RECEPTION ~ Pastor and Katie Schuermann would like to say “Blessed Advent” to all of you by providing the refreshments in the fellowship hall on Sunday, Dec. 3. Please join us!
NATIVITY WALK ~ On Sunday, Dec. 3, during Pastor and Katie’s Advent Reception, you are invited to view the nativity set collections displayed by fellow members. If you would like to display a nativity, you may set up on Sat. Dec 2 between 9-11 am.
WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY ~ Y’all come (Men and women!) to the Wednesday morning Bible study. Pastor Schuermann will be teaching through the topic of “Heaven and Hell”. We’ll begin on Wednesday, November 15th at 9:30 a.m. Materials for the class cost $9.99 and you can send an email to churchoffice@gsslcms.org or speak to pastor. Pastor will make sure you have the study guides for each week. There’s some light work to do each week (5 short readings and questions to ponder) in preparation for the class.
NOVEMBER VOTERS’ MEETINGS ~ There will be an informational Voters’ Meeting this evening at 6:30 p.m. This meeting is for the presentation of the proposed 2018 budget. Our regular November Voters’ Meeting will be held on Sunday, November 19th at 6:30 p.m.
LU HI BRUNCH ON NOV. 19TH ~ The Lutheran High School Brunch is this Sunday! See here for more information.
GAME NIGHT & WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT EXCHANGE ~ Bring your favorite board game and join us for our next game night on 12/1 at 6 p.m. Pizza will be served for dinner, please bring a side or dessert to share. We’ll also have a white elephant gift exchange. See the sign-up sheet for more info!
MINI LOCK-IN ~ Jr. High youth are invited to a mini lock-in at Good Shepherd on Fri. 11/17 from 6:30-midnight. Lots of games are planned, along with dinner and a devotion, and maybe a few other surprises! If you have other commitments that evening, please feel free to join us as it fits your schedule whether you need to arrive later or leave early! Invite a friend and sign-up by 11/16.
SATURDAY YOUTH NIGHT ~ Our next youth night is 11/18 from 6-8pm for High School and Jr. High Youth. Please bring $2 for pizza. Invite a friend! Sign up by noon on 11/18.
