Baptism

Holy Scripture teaches that Baptism is necessary for salvation (Mark 16:16) and that God’s grace is offered through baptism (Titus 3:4-7). Children should be baptized, as St. Peter clearly taught on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:38-39). Throughout the book of Acts we read that whole households were baptized, and the witness of the earliest Christians is unanimous in the baptism of infants.

Adults who have not been baptized are invited to meet with the pastor in order to prepare for baptism. Children of members or regular attenders should be brought to the pastor as soon as possible for baptism.

For more information, please contact the church office.

Catechesis

If you are not a member of another Missouri Synod congregation, we invite you to go through a period of instruction in the Scriptures and discernment. Individuals or families meet with the pastor to study the Scriptures and Catechism, and have opportunities to ask any questions they might have.

A new adult instruction class will begin on Sunday, July 10 at noon and will continue each Sunday through the end of August. Pastor Schneider will lead this class. If you would like more information, please contact the church office for  more information.

Transfer

If you are a member of another Missouri Synod congregation and have moved to the Springfield, IL area, we will help you transfer your membership to Good Shepherd. Please call the church office (217-496-3149) or contact us.
